Daybe Studios began with one idea: an animated series made for Gen Z, about Gen Z’s world. We wanted to tell honest stories about the things this generation lives with every day: mental health, social justice, AI, social media, family, and the future they’re inheriting.

Our timeline

  1. August 15, 2025

    The idea takes shape in a text conversation between producer Saeed Khadangi and writer-director Mohsen Towhidian.

  2. Early pencil sketches of Rachel, Riley, Arthur, the Masked Killer and Tommy

    September 13, 2025

    The draft script is approved and the first characters are sketched.

  3. Pencil sketch studies of Riley in overalls

    October 4, 2025

    Daybe Studios opens in a small shared office, and the designs are refined.

    August 30, 2026

    Episode 1 of Marionettes premieres.

Saeed Khadangi

Producer · Co-founder, Daybe Commerce Inc.

Saeed Khadangi is a co-founder of Daybe Commerce Inc., the parent company of Daybe Studios, bringing together more than 12 years of experience across digital media, marketing, brand development, and creative production. Based in Toronto, Canada, Saeed leads the project’s production and audience strategy, helping shape Marionettes from its creative vision and storytelling direction to its release and growth across digital platforms. His work focuses on building original, character-driven entertainment designed for contemporary audiences, while collaborating with an international creative team to bring the series to life.

Mohsen Towhidian

Writer & Director

Mohsen Towhidian is a writer, poet, and the writer-director of Marionettes. His published work spans fiction, poetry, and drama, as well as Persian translations of selected poems by Walt Whitman and Ted Kooser. He has also written extensively on literature, art, and cinema for literary and arts publications. Drawing on this diverse body of work, Towhidian brings to Marionettes a distinctive approach to storytelling, character, dark humor, and the strange elements hidden beneath the ordinary.
